“Travelling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”
Well, hello there!
Let’s get the niceties out of the way – my name is Lucy and I am a 22-year-old final year university student from England. Thanks for popping by!
I’ve wanted to start a blog for a while now but it’s taken me a long time to figure out what I wanted my blog to be for, something that I’m passionate about and something I knew I would be able to take pride in. That’s why I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to realise “why not a travel blog?” – duuuuh!
My friends always see me as “the traveller”. Life and work are stressful for everyone so the way I see it is, why not put that money we all work so hard to earn towards seeing the world – what could be better (I mean, other than a new car but we’ll cross that bridge soon enough)?!
I love travelling. And I don’t just mean all inclusive, beach holidays (although I’m so all for a good beach holiday when I fancy one). For me, travelling is understanding the native way of life and how my everyday norm is different to someone else’s. Travelling is learning to master the countries transportation system and roaming around like a local (that may sound silly but for me, I find it a real achievement to ‘blend in’). Above all, for me, travelling is a learning experience about yourself. Travelling gives you the opportunity to learn new things about yourself and offer new perspectives on situations. When life isn’t throwing me a bone, somehow, hundreds or thousands of miles away, the problems that appear to be damning in your daily life become so, so insignificant. Travelling forces you, for better or for worse (but I’ll always argue for the better), to look at the bigger picture.
I don’t claim to be the most seasoned traveller – that costs money that as a university student, I don’t have much of! I’ve been lucky enough to visit many places in the last few years such as Barcelona, Copenhagen, Lake Como; my fondest memory is being able to spend a month in Costa Rica and as of the 23rd March, I will be heading off to Los Angeles for 8 days and (hopefully) plans to travel around Asia after Graduation. Ultimately, what I want this blog to be is a record of my journeys, wherever they may be. I want to share my journeys, before, during and after any trip I take and the things I learn along the way. Travelling is mostly associated with countries like Austrailia, New Zealand, Thailand etc but England has some pretty darn spectacular places too and those will not be forgotten. Just because you live somewhere, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t appreciate the beauty it offers too!
I look forward to starting this “journey” with you all!
